Leave No Trace

We Support the “Leave No Trace Ireland”-Principles of Outdoor Ethics

The East Clare Way is a National Waymarked Way and its development was only made possible by the dedication and hard work of The East Clare Way Ltd and all its support groups and the generosity, cooperation and goodwill of our local landowners.
We at Clare Walking Tours would like to continue our excellent relationship with our public and private landowners and all stakeholders, and you can really help us in this regard by adhering to the “Seven Principles Of Leave No Trace” when enjoying our superb walking trails.

1.Plan ahead and prepare
2.Be considerate of others
3.Respect farm animals and wildlife
4.Travel and camp on durable ground
5.Leave what you find
6.Dispose of waste properly
7.Minimise the effects of fire

Really what we are saying is
Ensure that you are allowed to go where
you want to go.
Respect anyone you meet and don’t make
too much noise.
Do not damage property.
Where possible do not disturb wild animals
and birds and please do not feed them.

Do not get too close to farm animals.
Travel in small groups and in single file where
the ground underfoot is wet or eroded
or is in generally bad condition.

Leave gates as you find them.
Don’t cause any damage to structures,
artefacts or monuments.
Leave rocks, plants, animals and habitats
as you find them.
Please take away all your litter and leftover food.
Do not light fires.
If you smoke, take the used matches
and cigarette butts home with you.

Practicing a Leave No Trace Ethic is very simple-

“Make it hard for others to see or hear you
and Leave No Trace of your visit”
