County Clare is situated in the West of Ireland and is renowned and known the world over for its legacy in Traditional Irish Music and is home to an abundance of visual riches and spectacular scenery.

East Clare, while only a 40 minute drive from Shannon Airport, is a beautiful, unspoilt and hidden corner of the county with a landscape of rugged hills and picturesque valleys intertwined with rivers, lakes, woodland and boglands.

We are surrounded by the magnificent Slieve Bearnagh, Maghera, Turkenagh and Slieve Aughty Mountains on one side and the majestic River Shannon and Lough Derg on the other and you will enjoy panoramic views and wonderful scenery from all of our walking routes.

Dr. Hugh W.L. Weir ( writer and publisher) once wrote..........

"Emeralds are often accompanied by pearls and one such pearl is Ireland's East Clare region.

With the 400Km long river Shannon to its right and the majestic western Atlantic coast to its left, East Clare is a haven of unspoilt peace and tranquillity for those who love solitude.

East Clare is a place of secrets too. A rich tapestry of folklore, heritage and historic monuments are everywhere. The contributions of Milesians and Basques from Spain, Normans from France and Britain, Palatines, Huguenots, Hungarians, and those who have adopted an altermative lifestyle, make for an interesting, cosmopolitan communtiy ready to welcome and share with visitors.

After one visit you will want to return again and again to re-live the unique experience that is East Clare.

A wild, wonderful, rugged beauty."
